Stewart & Aunt Isobel

Stewart on mission in Dunbar (1997) Aunt Isobel at Mum and Dad's wedding

(Brother) Stewart

(Aunt) Isobel

Born Stewart Kenneth Thomson at Stirling Royal Infirmary on 7 June 1973. Stewart went to Riverside Primary School and then Wallace High School which he left at the end of his 4th year.

He immediately started work at Domino Amjet as an Industrial Technology Inkjet Salesperson. He worked there for 2 years until he was 18, and then he went back to Falkirk College to study where he gained an SVQ in Business Administration.

Stewart is a Christian, and has 10 Years of taking part in Church of Scotland Summer Missions followed by 4 years as a Mission Team Leader (he led my first mission at Dunbar, 1995).

After Falkirk College, Stewart studied on the Training (Counselling) in Evangelism (TEV) one year course at Dundee University and then moved to Benbecula for 14 months to work as a Parish Assistant.

In November 1998, Stewart took up a job with Burger King at Springkerse Industrial Estate in Stirling. He started off as a staff/crew member, and then got promotion to Service expert, then Service Supervisor, then Supervisor and is now Trainee Assistant Manager. He also works as a delivery driver for the Fountain Cafe.

When Isobel Maurer Davies was born in Alison Street, Ayr on 8 September 1943, the doctor's had to perform a mastroid operation, and the operation went wrong, which left her with only one eardrum. Isobel has to wear a hearing aid. She learned to lip read at an early age.

Isobel lost her mum when she was only 4. When Papa married Jessie McLinton Parker in 1951, she came to regard Jessie as her mum.

Isobel went to Glenburn Primary for a short while, then transferred to a Deaf School (one in Kilmaurs, and one in Dalry).

When Isobel left school she started work in the Laundry. She also washed dishes in the Queens Hotel down Prestwick Shore (now a Nursing home). She was in and out of hospital, so she couldn't hold down a steady job and ended up just living at home with her mum and dad.

When her mum and dad died, Isobel got a small house in Prestwick the following February. She has lived there ever since, and receives a home help three times a week.
